“The location, home layout, house interior options and the overall estate design really caught our eye — everything ticked our boxes. A big factor for us is that it’s close to the N1, so it’s easy to visit my family in Durbanville and also close to Paarl centre. Plus, it’s surrounded by other new estates, so it feels like an up-and-coming area. The price was also a huge tick for us based on everything above!”
What attracted you most to the estate?
“The house layout and size — we were very conscious about finding a home that we can move into when we’re back and grow into, as we’ll be ready for kids then. In terms of the estate itself, 24/7 manned security was another big tick, especially with the secure access system where visitors need to be given a code. We also loved the green spaces and walking paths — we have dogs and love being outdoors, so this was a must-have!”
How would you describe the value for money compared to other developments?
“This is something we actually brag about to friends! We saw an estate in Durbanville with a single garage, 150sqm, two bedrooms and basically no garden — priced at R3.7m. And on top of that, it’s right next to where the new R300 will be constructed, so it will face heavy noise from a raised highway. The interior finishes there also didn’t impress us. When we compared it to the spec sheet at Huguenot, the choices were unmatched. The value for money here is incredible.”
What has your experience been like so far, from the decision to buy to bond approval?
“Honestly amazing — and so helpful! My parents have supported us, but they’ve been out of the bond repayments game for so long, so they weren’t sure of everything. We received so much guidance along the way, which made the whole process stress-free.”
What are you most looking forward to about living at Huguenot Estate?
“The location is close to nature, perfect for hikes and wine farm day trips. We’re also so excited to finally be in a new home with a layout and finishes that suit us perfectly. Living a bit away from the city with a peaceful backdrop is exactly what we wanted — in Dublin, our apartment building is surrounded by a forest, so this feels like a natural continuation of that lifestyle.”

“Yes! It’s just such good value for money — from the house layout and finishes to the estate amenities and location. Especially for people who work hybrid and need to commute into the city, being right on the N1 makes it such a fast and easy drive.”
